Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) - Airfresh Hygro 500
Airfresh Hygro 500
- How does the humidification display on the Airfresh Hygro and Airfresh Wash 500 work?
The humidifier and the air washer are equipped with an integrated air humidity sensor. The actual humidity of 20% RH to 95% RH is shown on the Display.
- There are some white and/or deposits on the Airfresh Hygro 500 filter. What can I do?
The white and/or yellow deposits are calcium carbonate particles that have developed from the minerals in water. Calcium carbonate on the filter impairs the proper function of the humidifier. Therefore, you must clean the humidifier filter every two weeks. Use a solution made from water and vinegar, at a ratio of 1:1, or vinegar essence at a ratio of 3:1. Place the filter in the vinegar–water solution for one hour. Then rinse subsequently with clean water before putting the filter back into the Airfresh Hygro 500. Note: Should any dark patches appear on the filter, or if there is an unpleasant smell, the filter must be replaced.
- What is the automatic mode? How does this work?
In automatic mode, the air humidity is monitored continually by the digital sensors. This then leads to the humidifier being switched on and off as needed, to ensure the humidity in the room is always kept at the correct level. Humidity levels are normally considered to be comfortable at between 40%–60%. The standard humidity in automatic mode is 50%, but this can be adjusted as required.
- How is the water tank of the Hygro 500 kept free from germs?
Fill the tank with clean water daily. Clean the bottom compartment with warm water and a soft cloth every 10–14 days. Never leave water in the bottom compartment for extended periods. Water left in the Airfresh Hygro 500 can lead to mineral deposits and can create conditions that are conducive to the growth of unwanted micro-organisms. In addition, the filter must be changed if it starts to show dark patches.
- What does Evaporation Technology mean?
Evaporation Technology utilises the principle of cold evaporation. It offers cold humidification that is up to 99% free from bacteria, in comparison to other humidification methods.
- Will the device let me know when the water tank needs to be refilled?
If the water level gets too low, the red symbol on the display will light up. This shows that the water needs to be refilled. If you do not refill the water, the Airfresh Hygro 500 will continue to run for as long as it takes for the existing water in the tank to be used up and for the filter to be completely dry.
- How does the humidification work with the Airfresh Hygro 500?
1.) The replaceable, absorbent filter collects large articles such as hair and dust as it sucks in the dry air
2.) The hygienic and efficient evaporation technology ensures that bacteria is not able to settle in the water or during the humidification process
3.) The Airfresh Hygro 500 blows the clean air out evenly, providing comfortable and natural air purification for your home - Water is coming out of the tank.

Fill the Airfresh Hygro 500 with clean water daily. - The humidifier is not effective.
There can be various reason for why the humidifier is only working to a limited extent, or even not at all. Before the humidity can be distributed into the room, a part of it will first be absorbed by wallpapers and wood. For this reason, it may take some time before the desired level of humidity is reached. However, it may also be that there is a technical error. Please check that the filter is clean and correctly fitted. In addition, please make sure that the room is not larger than the maximum size specified (for the Hygro 500 this is 50 m² and for the Wash 500 it is 30 m²) and that the room is not being aired too much (close the windows and doors).
